Visit to the National Zoological Park

A visit to a zoo offers children the opportunity to breathe life into their imagination and foster an emotional connection with animals. Beyond just fun, it also imparts valuable lessons. Exploring the zoo provides immense knowledge about the habitats and dietary habits of different animals and birds. With this thought in mind, the students of the Junior Elementary Years Programme were taken to the National Zoological Park on Wednesday, 7^th February 2024.

During the circle time, the teachers sensitized the children about the norms to observe while visiting the zoo. These included always staying with their teachers, refraining from feeding the animals (as it could be harmful), avoiding teasing or frightening them with noises or funny facial expressions, keeping the place tidy and maintaining a respectful distance from the animals.

At the zoo, the little ones observed various animals in their natural habitat. They marvelled at the beauty of birds such as macaws, pheasants, peacocks, parrots, and some migratory species. Additionally, they encountered animals like hippopotamuses, elephants, and rhinoceroses. The sight of a lion, tiger and jaguar thrilled them. They demonstrated sensitivity by remaining silent to avoid disturbing the animals. Teachers also emphasized ways to nurture the animals with care, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 15 - Life on Land.

This educational outing proved to be a fantastic learning experience for the little ones. After a day filled with fun, they were escorted back to their buses, carrying cherished memories that would last a lifetime.
